If you think you're likely to need a car from a Scottish airport over Christmas or the New Year, we would advise you to book earlier rather than later. Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Stirling all see very high levels of demand for the festive season.

Christmas is a particularly busy period across Ireland, as a lot of people fly home to be with family over the holidays. The most popular pick up locations are at airports and it is recommended that you book early for Dublin and Shannon airport in particular. Easter is also extremely busy across Ireland.

Airport pick-ups for ski-ing holidays prove popular thoughout the winter but getting hold of the car you want from Lyon and Geneva can be more problematic over Christmas, February half term and weekends throughout February and March.

If you require a large, family-sized car or a specialty vehicle (people carrier or 4x4), the earlier you book the better as there are fewer of these cars to go round and they are in particularly high demand over the holidays.
